Erbil Polytechnic University

Erbil Polytechnic University (EPU) was founded in 1993 by the Kurdistan National Council and was opened in 1996 under the name of 'Foundation of Technical Institutes'. When the Technical colleges were officiated, its name was changed to 'Foundation of Technical Education'. It later became the Erbil Polytechnic University in 2012, embracing 3 colleges and 8 technical institutes.

Why the Erbil Polytechnic University?

  • Erbil Polytechnic University is a scientific public academy which aims at educating technical qualified candidates in the various specialties to meet the needs of the society, as a non-profitable centre of education.
  • It develops human capacities and resources in technical fields for the graduates of the preparatory schools, and educating technical qualified people in relation to the community and marketing needs.

  • It provides advisory services in all consultant councils.

  • It supports scientific research and innovations to reach profession and new ideas on an advanced level.

The Polytechnic Journal (PTJ)

Is a general scientific Journal issued by Erbil Polytechnic University, dedicated to publishing scientific research in all of the relevant fields, and is a member of the World Scientific Journal (ISSN 2313-5727). The journal holds DOI No. 10.25156/ptj.2017.7.3 which publishes peer reviewed scientific papers using the Open Journal System (OJS) software.

Language Center

Erbil Polytechnic University/Language Centre is linked to the university and it was established in 2017. The centre offers English language courses for university teachers and all graduates from Kurdistan universities and non-academic staff of other fields who would like to improve their English competency. The center offers preparation courses for the people who pursue international language competency tests.
